Highlights/Special Events
Because we are an outreach of Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, we partner with them for some very special events. In the fall, we have a family night that takes us on a hayride to a really cool bonfire where the kids can run through a cornfield and play all of those games that you used to do before the world became so complicated. In the Spring, we come together again for a
big Easter Egg Hunt with food, and fellowship.
The Chester County Intermediate Unit comes to UOPC in October to screen each new student for; vision, hearing, speech, and behavioral issues. If they find a problem, they offer further evaluation and possible early intervention services for free.
There are many field trips provided for each age group. They are well thought out and fun for all. The 3 year olds go to Highland Orchards in the Fall, and Springton Manor in the Spring. The 4 year olds visit an Amish farm, The Kitchen Kettle Shops, the American Helicopter Museum, and a walking tour of Parkesburg. Our Pre-K class has six enrichment trips each year including the Cherry Crest Farms. We also pay to have the Philadelphia Zoo come with a special program every year.
The children have a Christmas Pageant where we honor our grandparents, we have a “Doughnuts with Daddy Day and each classroom hosts a lovely Mother’s Day Tea.
Our pre-school children get to ride a real school bus and visit an actual Kindergarten class in April. It is our hope that this will prepare them for the following Fall and reduce any anxiety.
The big finish is a graduation ceremony where we invite family and friends to witness a new beginning in the lives of our dear little loved ones.
Uopc also has a two week Summer Camp that provides a lot of fun and one more chance to give love and guidance to the sweet children that you have shared with
us.
